There were also a bunch of characters I couldn't stand like Becky and Carmencita, the latter being horrendous and she was supposed to be. This instantly makes her examine her five people and what their characters say about who she is, but she also realises that she can choose to become whoever she wants to be by choosing a very specific set of five people. The protagonist, Allegra (Freckles) was an incredibly quirky character with some neurodivergent characteristics (it seemed).

Das Buch ist recht wirkungslos an mir vorbeigerauscht, das Gelesene hatte ich nach zwei Tagen so gut wie vergessen, was wohl kein gutes Zeichen ist. Da das Buch eine charakterfokussierte Erzählung ist, ging daher einiges verloren und auch sonst hatte die Geschichte nicht viel Neues zu bieten, auch wenn sicherlich einige schöne Botschaften enthalten sind, die der ein oder andere für sich mitnehmen kann, wie es bei "Misfit-Tropes" meistens der Fall ist. Her innocence in how she sees the world is refreshing and tugged at my heart especially when it leads her to situation you know she may get hurt. Ook al was het niet haar droombaan, ze houdt van de orde, de regels en de duidelijkheid van haar werk.I'd definitely recommend this book, and would also recommend the audiobook if people had access to it as it was a great listen.

At first, I felt engaged with this small town, her life as a traffic warden and the strict routine of the day, but it lost its shine with repetitiveness. Ze is zeker niet perfect en je wilt haar wel eens aanmoedigen om andere keuzes te maken, maar met vallen en opstaan groeit ze en wordt ze sterker. After completing a degree in Journalism and Media Communications, Cecelia wrote her first novel at 21 years old. While this doesn’t impact Allegra’s narrative much, I would have liked to know more about those subplots.Freckles is a charming, uplifting and completely captivating story that will remind you to cherish the glorious people you have in your life, even if we can't see them at the moment. But this is what happens when you come apart, the secret bits you knew about each other dissolve into nothing.
