About this deal
This does tilt it more into a "funner" IEM, but I prefer a more neutral signature so found the ER2SE with the slightly more linear bass response to be better for me. The player was loaded with standard and high-res PCM and DSD music files and also provided access, via Tidal, to a wealth of MQA material. Place the nozzle perpendicular to a hard surface and press gently until the filter is pushed into place.
Previously I wrote a review on the Moondrop quarks, long story short I said they were all you will ever need. Legacy 3 is slightly rolled off in the treble in my opinion, which makes for a weird frequency response to me. They don’t hurt, annoy or itch and you can easily use these for long listening sessions without any discomfort. But I should be clear: when I say that the ER2SE “faces off” against these headphones, I’m talking about raw technical ability. I might even compare it to my some hybrids like Legacy 5 or some offerings from BQEYZ, but the cohesiveness of a DD can't be undermined.
When comparing the bass of these 4 IEMs, I found that obviously with IEMs the fit is a huge proponent with the bass response. Their sound signature is excellent, every detail is crystal clear and with the noise isolation, the bass response is great. Audio engineers, musicians and audiologists at Etymotic have generated over 100 patents issued and pending. The ER4SR’s cable is braided above the Y-splitter, and is a bit more flexible than the ER2SE’s non-braided cable. Etymotic IEMs are known for their excellent noise isolation and these again deliver a very impressive 35 to 42dB noise isolation when used correctly.
If you’re someone who enjoys listening to music while commuting, then you know the value of a good pair of earphones/IEMs.While the ER2SE is a great entry into the Etymotic product sphere, the ER4SR takes things that extra step, giving everything a slightly more refined and airier sound.
