Usually, I’d berate an Android device for opting for hardware-based navigation controls in 2018 but on the Active 2 their presence makes total sense. Paired with the tablet’s increased touchscreen sensitivity toggle, the buttons make for far easier operation should you be wearing gloves or have wet hands; ideal if you see yourself taking this tablet on a camping trip to colder climbs.
Been using an LG-v530 LTE 8" tablet in my vehicle for Spotify, navigation (GMaps), TorquePro, etc. It died a slow death as the battery swelled to point screen began popping off, case swollen, but otherwise still working. As an active user of the Tab Active3, I looked around for other versions that might fit the bill. The touchscreen is as fluid and responsive as you’d expect from a Samsung device, and the stylus accuracy is superb. If you dunk the tablet, you need to remove the case to dry it off, and wait for the "moisture in the USB port" alert to go away.
