At present, tidal stream power is more costly than wind power. The standard metric for comparing the economic performance of different generating methods is the levelised cost of energy (LCoE). This is the ratio of the total lifetime cost of a project to the energy output over that lifetime. The temporary tooling was removed, and the shear web was positioned into the bottom shell half, shown in Fig. 19b. The technology will then undergo two years of real-world testing at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney. Two of Orbital Marine Power’s O2 floating platforms – the world’s most powerful tidal turbines – will each be fitted with four of the newly developed blades. The tabletop RPG translation of Druid City Game’s competitive board game Tidal Blades: Heroes of the Reef will be coming by way of Monte Cook Games, using its proprietary Cypher System. FastBlade’s rams use hydraulic pumps, operating at a rate of 800 litres per minute, to deliver the loads on the blades. Regenerative hydraulic technology – its first use in a test facility of this kind – recovers energy between cycles to reduce the energy consumed. In a conventional system, the pressurised fluid that drives the forward movement of the rams is simply allowed, between each stroke, to return to atmospheric. In a regenerative system, as the fluid depressurises it repressurises the fluid driving the pump’s next movement. This recovers some 80% of the required energy, which makes for less expensive testing.

Bigger, better, faster, greener

Many of these things will give you victory points, and so you can try to focus your strategy in any direction. Trying to play with a different focus each time adds to the game’s replayability, especially when you couple this with the unique abilities each character can acquire. Unlike traditional glass fibre epoxy manufacture, where exotherm from the resin during cure must be controlled to avoid damage to the part or a potential health and safety hazard [ 24], there is no significant exotherm during the one-shot manufacturing process for CPET [ 16], which has been discussed in Sect. 2.3. In Tidal Blades, you play as one of four asymmetric characters competing for the chance to become a Tidal Blade, a sort of appointed hero for the city. You start the game with your character board which has four dials that allows you to upgrade each of your four stats as the game goes on, a secret goal that will get you some victory points if you are to achieve it, a character card detailing one of your unique abilities, and two basic dice thare are rolled to try and complete challenges.

To trial the new technologies through the manufacture of a full-scale tidal turbine blade (shown during manufacture in Fig. 1). Tidal Blades: Heroes of the Reef is a wonderful game. I enjoy it with a full player count as well as solo. Even at two-players, the rival AI is simple to control. I do prefer my two-player games to not include AI players, but I’m not upset with this one, but that’s because it works smoothly. The board game will also feature components similar to those found in other Druid City joints, including the squishy fruits - though Banner Festival trades oranges for what look like plump little star fruit this time around. The other 65 tokens, which include the watercraft, banners and markers, will all be composed of wood. Ocean of data

In line with its green policies, the EU’s €26.7 million FORWARD-2030 project aims to accelerate the commercial deployment of tidal energy alongside wind generation, battery storage, and green hydrogen production. Its objectives are to reduce the LCoE of tidal energy, enhance its environmental and societal acceptance, prepare for future volume manufacturing of equipment, further reduce carbon emissions, and enhance tidal power’s integration with other energy systems. The scheme is supported by a pan- European consortium and led by Orbital Marine.
