In accordance with the NSW Liquor Act 2007, it is against the law to sell or supply alcohol to, or to obtain alcohol on behalf of, a person under the ages of 18 years. Proclaimed on the bottle as the “best of both worlds, east and west,” Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin is based on a recipe of Jacobus, better known as Bobby, Alfons. The artwork on the bottle is also distinctly Indonesian, and comes from the style of container that used to house jenever. Using the historic recipe as a starting point, this evolved into the final botanical line up that combines traditional Indonesian ingredients and spices, alongside the typical gin ingredients. Interestingly, the team use a fractional distillation technique to produce the spirit, distilling the botanicals separately in either 600 litre or 3000 litre copper pot stills to achieve the required flavours.

This recognition is a testament to the exceptional quality and craftsmanship that goes into every bottle. It is one of the oldest (since 1777) and best (winner of world class distillery) family owned Distillery Herman Jansen.The palate is as distinctive as you’re apt to find in the gin world, with very little quite like it out there: the rosehips are sweet an pungent; the lemongrass is citrusy and herbal with menthol tones blending with anise/fennel character; the clove and spice is unmistakable.

It took two years of trials, conversations and testing before a final method and final gin were settled on. With a distinct aroma and a complex flavor profile, Bobby's Gin delights the senses with notes of juniper, citrus, and a hint of spice. Combining Indonesian spices and more traditional gin botanicals, Bobby’s Schiedam Dry Gin has a complex flavour profile in which the refreshing zing of lemongrass comes through front and centre.

If you like a crisp vodka-like drink with amazing aromatics (juniper, clove, lemongrass), you will absolutely love this gin. In 2012 Bobby’s grandson Sebastiaan discovered an old bottle of his grandfather’s gin in his mother’s house.

Lemongrass brings an exotic feel but it remains fresh and bold, with a deep juniper anchor holding it in place, while ethereal floral notes waver in and out of existence. By combining local botanicals such as juniper and rosehips with the exotic spice and cloves of lemongrass and cubeb pepper, Sebastiaan has created a unique recipe that creates one exceptional gin. The spicy, lemony not-lemony nature would make it a good gin for when you crave a citrus-forward gin in the colder months.Note: if the mix is to be kept warm for an extended time the spices should be removed once you are happy with the flavour, otherwise it will become astringent. So Bobby created his one spirit with spices and herbs from South East Asia and created the original Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin.
