THE WICKER MAN: Final Cut will be released in UK cinemas with accompanying 50th Anniversary event footage on June 21st: the Summer Solstice. A second generation 35mm intermediate positive produced in 1973 was used to replace a small section with unrepairable damage in the original negative. The version I did for the record was a kind of psychedelic/ kraut rock version so having the opportunity to work with my friends Broadside Hacks on a traditional cover which they put together so beautifully has been really brilliant. This home release of the Special Collector’s Edition of the film is a great addition to those who are not only classic movie fans but also those who have been a fan of the movie over the years, I have to say that when I went to see this release at Cineworld I was impressed with the 4K restoration and seeing it on my 4K TV at home it looks even better.

Audio and picture-wise, The Final Cut of The Wicker Man looks incredible, like it was shot yesterday, and the wonderful folk song soundtrack is as clear as a bell. If you have only been introduced to the story of The Wicker Man by the Nic Cage remake then I highly recommend you check out the 1973 original, it is a powerful piece of cinema history that takes you on a bizarre journey and really gives you the shock factor when it comes to the final moments of the movie. There are some great moments with the cast in the film and Christopher Lee was always a scene stealer for me when watching the movie it was amazing to see him in the role on the big screen, Lee said that he considered this one of his greatest roles. There will be an exclusive musical performance by Broadside Hacks, covering 4 tracks from the iconic soundtrack.
